WATERFORD CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL
26-28 JULY 2024
MOUNT CONGREVE HOUSE & GARDENS
Waterford Chamber Music Festival invites you to an exciting weekend of music at the world renowned Mount Congreve House and Gardens.
Encounter beautiful performances of classical chamber music presented by an outstanding group of Irish musicians, whose work has garnered national and international acclaim. Three concerts will present favourites of the chamber music canon by Brahms, Schubert, the Schumanns, Dohnyani & more, with special emphasis on the music of Gabriel Fauré and his compatriots, celebrating his centenary year.
On Saturday morning, our Young Artists' Concert will feature the music-making of talented young pianists Alexandra Keane and Louise Byrne.

On Saturday afternoon, experienced animateur Sophie Lee will host a Children's Composition Workshop, allowing younger visitors create some music of their own.
All events will be fully accessible, and while we look forward to welcoming younger guests to our Composition Workshop, the four concerts are adult only events, due to the rare and delicate nature of the Chinese wallpaper adorning the walls of the Large Drawing Room.

The house and gardens at Mount Congreve are situated just outside the village of Kilmeaden, Co. Waterford, by the banks of the river Suir. The house and its world famous gardens were cared for and developed by Ambrose Congreve (1907-2011), who bequeathed them to the Irish State. Our concerts will take place in the Large Drawing Room of Mount Congreve House, which was built in the 1760s by local architect John Roberts (1712-1796). The Large Drawing Room is decorated with rare and delicate Chinese wallpaper, thought to date from the 1780s. Not usually accessible to the public, it makes an ideal and authentic setting in which to hear classical chamber music.
