Lucy Nolan, viola

Dublin-born violist Lucy Nolan divides her time between her work as a chamber musician and teacher. In 2006, she, with violinist Jonathan Martindale and cellist Peggy Nolan formed the Eblana String Trio, which enjoys a busy concert schedule performing in venues such as the Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room, St John Smith Square and the Bridgewater Hall. They have been broadcast on numerous occasions on BBC Radio 3 amd RTÉ Lyric FM and the follow up to their acclaimed debut album, the King’s Alchemist will be released in 2025. Lucy is also a member of Amika, a string quartet specialising in contemporary approaches. Amika has collaborated with artists including Alfa Mist, Alice Zawadzki, and Ezra Collective. The quartet has performed at the Barbican, the RAH and Cadogan Hall and recorded a live album at King’s Place and a live-to-vinyl at Metropolis Studios. Lucy is a passionate teacher and currently holds positions at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal Northern College of Music. Lucy also freelances with ensembles such as Manchester Collective, the Irish Chamber Orchestra and Manchester Camerata.
