Peggy Nolan, cello
Born in Dublin, Peggy studied with Adele O’Dwyer, Aisling Drury Byrne, and Bill Butt before continuing her studies at Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music with Peter Dixon. As cellist of the Eblana String Trio, Peggy performs across the UK and Ireland. In 2021 they released their album, ‘The King’s Alchemist’ which was selected as chamber recording of month in a 5-star review in BBC music magazine. Peggy is a member of the Irish Chamber Orchestra, which whom she has toured Ireland, the USA and South America. Peggy performs regularly with Manchester Collective, in venues ranging from a refurbished MOT garage to the Frankfurt Alte Oper. Beyond the classical stage she has performed at the Manchester, London and Cambridge Jazz festivals, as well as broadcasts from Abbey Road and Metropolis Studios. Peggy has performed and recorded with Alfa Mist, an artist known for blending jazz with hip-hop and cinematic sound design since 2019, collaborating on the orchestration for shows in London’s Barbican and Royal Albert Hall. Peggy teaches at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She is the Course Director of ConCorda, and a PhD candidate at the RNCM, researching Boccherini’s String Quartets Opp.24 & 44.
