Sean Hurley, violin
Cork-grown violinist, Seán Hurley will begin his 3rd year in the BMus degree in MTU Cork School of Music this September. He studies under Katherine Hunka. He has won the Arthur Catterall Cup, the Arthur Darley Memorial Prize and the Senior Chamber Music Cup at Feis Ceoil. He has also received various prizes in MTUCSM Concerto, Recital and Chamber Music competitions. He has enjoyed masterclasses with the likes of Henning Kraggarud, Mairéad Hickey and Ioana Petcu.
Seán was the concertmaster of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland for the 2024/25 seasons and has gone on tour with La Orquesta de las Américas in Mexico and the European Youth Orchestra Academy in Germany. He is also a regular member of Ulster Youth Orchestra and MTUCSM Symphony Orchestra.
Seán is a member of the Meliora String Quartet, playing both violin and viola. He is extremely excited for the NSQF Young Artists Tour in August with the Meliora with concerts in the Triskel Arts Centre, Kenmare, Castletownshend and Doneraile. Fáilte romhaibh go léir!!!
